* On the Schilthorn, in the Piz Gloria Restaurant, a rotating restaurant above Interloken, with views of The Eiger and the Swiss Alps. Parts of the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service " were filmed there.
* Glacier Point, overlooking Yosemite Valley.....on a crystal clear day in mid winter... accessible only by x-country skiing 25 miles round trip from Badger Pass. Twice I made it.
* Snowflake Lodge, at Diamond Peak, overlooking Lake Tahoe, where I ate lunch daily while telemark skiing with my best friend, Mr. Jerry Finders and his wife, Dianne, most of the winter of 1990.
* Sunsets from the house I lived in - in 1974 - facing the west with 12 feet of sliding glass windows - upon the shore of Lake Dillon, overlooking the Gore Range, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain.
* A sunset from a little cabana overlooking the Pacific in Quepos, Costa Rica.
* The view from the summit of Mt. Shasta, in northern California at 14,179 feet.
* Backpacking and camping next to the Muldrow Glacier, then waking up in the morning and staring up in a clear sky to the summit of Denali, in 1979.
* Backpacking alone 12 miles up to Upper Slate Lake, at 11,500 feet in the Gore Range Wilderness Area in 1976.
I am adding a new spectacular view to the list:
The view from my Guest House patio. Tonight, here, on the river, in Vang Vieng, Lao PDR.
Guess what that means?
Schedule change. Will spend an extra night here.
Off in the AM for a 3 hour van ride to Vientiane, the Lao PDR capital.
Will be back home on the water overlooking Mt Hood in Portland in 13 short days.
Drat.
Byron
